1. What Enkrateia is — and isn't
Enkrateia is a structured 90-day self-improvement program designed to help users intentionally reduce social media use through phase-gated app blocking, daily check-ins, and accountability tools.
The program uses Apple's Family Controls framework to restrict access to apps and websites you designate. This is an individual device management tool — it is not parental controls and is not designed for use on another person's device without their informed consent.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Enkrateia.
- You must have a valid Apple ID and iOS device capable of running the app.
- You must not be prohibited from using the app under applicable laws.
- By creating an account, you confirm you meet these requirements.
3. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your login with others. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. Upon deletion, your data is removed from our servers within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
4. In-app purchases and refunds
Enkrateia may offer a lifetime access purchase processed entirely through Apple's App Store. All payment terms, including pricing, refund eligibility, and billing disputes, are governed by Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
To request a refund, use Apple's standard refund request process at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no ability to issue refunds directly.
You can restore a prior purchase at any time using the "Restore Purchases" option in Settings or on the paywall screen.
5. The 90-day program
The program is structured across three phases: Break (Days 1–30), Build (Days 31–60), and Control (Days 61–90). Each phase has specific blocking behavior and interaction patterns.
Crisis overrides
Each phase provides a limited number of crisis overrides — temporary deactivations of blocking for genuine emergencies. Overrides are time-limited and logged. The number of remaining overrides per phase is displayed in the app. Use of an override notifies your accountability partner if one is set up.
Phase transitions
Phase transitions occur automatically at Days 31 and 61. Features and restrictions change at each transition as described in the app. There is no refund or credit for early exit from the program.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app to restrict another person's device without their full knowledge and consent.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or manipulate the blocking mechanisms.
- Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
- Share account credentials or access the app on behalf of another person without authorization.
- Upload any content to the app's journal or check-in features that is illegal, threatening, or harmful.
7. Accountability partner
If you add an accountability partner, you confirm that you have their consent to receive automated program status emails from Enkrateia. You are responsible for obtaining this consent. Partners can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link included in every email.
Enkrateia is not responsible for the outcomes of the accountability partnership relationship. Partner emails contain program status information only — no personal content is shared.
8. Family Controls and Screen Time
Enkrateia uses Apple's Family Controls framework (Screen Time API) to implement app blocking. This requires you to authorize the app for device management on your own device. You remain solely responsible for which apps and domains you choose to block.
Blocking behavior may vary across iOS versions. We do not guarantee identical behavior across all supported iOS versions. Core blocking functionality requires a physical iOS device — it cannot be fully tested in a simulator.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
Enkrateia is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any particular outcome will result from using the program.
Results vary by individual. We make no guarantees about the effectiveness of the program in changing habits or reducing social media use.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Native Group LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Enkrateia, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Colorado.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you via email and through the app before the changes take effect. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
